Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Ephesians 5:1-2 NLT We've all seen comedians do impersonations. It's always very interesting to me to see how well they act and talk like the person they are imitating. Can you imagine how much time they spent with this person directly or indirectly to be able to do it so well. Great impersonations are not an accident. They happen with one key word… TIME. To imitate God, we have to spend time listening, studying and practicing his word. This is not limited to our church buildings. God wants us to imitate his character in every space and every place; marriage, business, children, etc. For me, it's been a slow process in learning how to act like God. It means not making quick decisions sometimes. Its means feeling and hearing God before speaking. It means not being a people pleaser. The more I imitate God, the more love comes in and the more fear leaves me. There is no fear in love and God is love. The primary evidence that you are imitating God is LOVE. You can do a lot for God without love, but God can not do anything without love. For God is love. Without knowing, we by default are imitating someone that was in our lives personally or someone we have watched on video. This can be negative or positive. Let's boldly imitate God. In God (Love), we become the most powerful force in the world.
