Mark Rebollo
I am writing this brief letter to my family, friends, and co-workers to share with you my heart to help reach the youth. I believe God is calling me to go full time as a missionary into the public schools. This means leaving my job and devoting all my time and energy to mentoring and helping at-risk youth. I've been praying and seeking counsel and so far have some support to move forward, but still have a long way to go before I can take this leap of faith.
Coming from a fatherless home, there was pain I held on to through my teen
years that ultimately affected my life in a negative way. As a result I ended
up spending time in juvenile facilities. As a troubled youth trying to find
myself I ended up incarcerated 4 years between the age of 15-21. Looking
back at my youth years, I Remember seeking guidance and positive
affirmation, but never was able to get it on a continuous basis. Without it I
wasn't able to open up and be transparent with my surroundings because
I wasn't sure they would understand what I was feeling deep inside.
My goal is to speak in schools, mentor at-risk teen boys and teach anger management. I hope to help build our teenagers identity and confidence to set them up for success. My prayer is that I will be able to help them before they make a negative decision that would be detrimental to their lives.
I believe our youth need us now more than ever. Will you partner up with me, and pray about supporting this work? You can support by being a one-time or monthly giver.
This is a vision to reach the youth in the inner cities of Los Angeles County, starting with the city of Pomona. For the last 8 years I’ve had the opportunity to give back by speaking in Juvenile Halls, Youth County Camps, group homes and churches.
